New beginnings – fearful to powerful

Calla Lily – Signifies Resilience

How many times is too many times to start over? Who decides how many times is too many times? You? Your family, friends, employers? Who? The answer is YOU! Only you know when you need to hit the reset button and start over.

That may be in a new place, a new relationship, a new job – it doesn’t have to be a total reboot, maybe its some significant changes where you are, it can be midway that you decide to take another path and change direction. The decision and action takes courage, it takes a sense of adventure, and sometimes, it takes a healthy dose of fear. Not the kind of fear that paralyzes, but the fear that moves you to action; like the fear of never seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up at night, because you are afraid to travel.

The fear of not having enough, being enough, or doing enough. We all have fears, some are healthy and keep you safe, others cripple you and keep you from realizing your full potential. Fear can motivate you, if you have the right perspective; so be mindful of the lens through which you process experiences that make you uncomfortable. Some discomfort can indicate you are on the right path, it can also indicate you should pause and re-examine your path. Trusting yourself, listening to your instincts and exercising your will to do and be better are all skills learned over time. A keen sense of self-awareness is necessary for any growth journey; openness to learning, trying, and yes, failing, are all required.

What is the crippling fear that is holding you back? How can you move from fearful to powerful? Face that fear, call it by name, and then take one powerful action today and conquer your fear. I wrote this post a few years ago, after waiting for the right time, the right place, the right subject. In the end, it was fear of not being good enough. This was my powerful step, what is yours?
